MARIETTA— Dr. Jona Rinard, Dean of Transfer and Public Service at Washington State Community College (WSCC), has been inducted into the 2023-2024 Appalachian Leadership Institute by the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC).
The Appalachian Leadership Institute is a free leadership and economic development training opportunity for individuals currently living and/or working in one of ARC’s 13 Appalachian states. Rinard will be one of 40 fellows in the 2023-2024 classes which is comprised of a diverse network of professionals who bring a broad spectrum of perspectives and sectors, including tourism, healthcare, education, civil service, and more. As a resident of West Virginia who works in Ohio, Rinard will serve for her home state and bring the unique perspective of both states.
“This fellowship is an incredible opportunity to make connections with leaders across the Appalachian region and throughout the country and give me a greater perspective into the diverse economic opportunities and challenges we are facing,” said Rinard. “I have no doubt that the lessons I will learn and connections I will make will positively impact the work we do here at Washington State and throughout Southeast Ohio.”
The nine-month curriculum is anchored by six multi-day seminars across the Appalachian Region focusing on each of ARC’s strategic investment priorities, which aim to strengthen economic and community growth in Appalachia.
