What Is the Automotive Service Technology Associate Degree?

The Automotive Technology associate degree prepares students for careers as skilled, job-ready automotive technicians. This program goes beyond basic maintenance to cover diagnostics, electrical systems, computerized engine controls, and the business side of the auto repair industry.

You’ll train in WSCO’s high-tech shop, learning to service and repair vehicles from bumper to bumper using professional-grade tools and computerized diagnostic equipment.

What Will You Learn in the Program?

Under the guidance of an ASE-certified instructor, you’ll explore all systems of a vehicle, including:

• Brakes and suspension
• Engine performance
• Electrical and electronic systems
• Transmission and drivetrain
• Climate control systems

You’ll gain hands-on experience with both conventional tools and computerized engine analyzers. Business management concepts are also integrated, helping you understand how service departments and parts systems operate.

Where Will You Train?

Your lab time happens in our state-of-the-art automotive facility, equipped to mirror the technology and layout of real-world repair shops. You’ll work directly on modern vehicles and components, building confidence and practical skills in a professional environment.

Is There a Shorter Option Available?

If you’re looking for a faster path to working in the field, the Automotive Technician Certificate, which covers the first year of the associate degree, will get you career-ready in one year. Credits from the certificate apply directly toward the full degree if you choose to continue.

Is the Program Accredited?

This program is fully accredited by the National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation (NATEF), which ensures the training meets national standards for quality, relevance, and industry readiness. We are also ASE certified, and a member of the Automotive Engine Rebuilders Association (AERA) and the Mobile Air Climate Systems Association (MACS).
