Transferring to Another College

Transferring from WSCO to Another College: A Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1
Determine the field(s) of study or major(s) you wish to pursue and identify the four-year college or university you plan to attend after completing classes at WSCO.
Step 2
Contact the WSCO Center for Student Success to schedule a meeting with the Transition Coordinator.
Step 3
Call the admissions office of the institution you are interested in and schedule a campus visit. During your visit, ask to:
  • Meet with the admissions transfer representative
  • Meet with a financial aid counselor
  • Meet with a faculty or staff representative from your intended major
  • Tour the campus and future classroom locations
Step 4
Bring the following items to your visit:
  • A copy of your transcript and current class schedule (if you are still enrolled)
  • The current Washington State course catalog
  • A list of questions regarding deadlines, costs, fees, housing, registration, transfer credit, job placement opportunities, and scholarships
Step 5
After applying to a four-year college or university, request that your Washington State transcript be sent for evaluation. This can be done through the WSCO Records Office. Transcripts are only considered official when sent directly from the Records Office to the receiving institution.
Step 6
If you plan to use financial aid at your new institution, be sure to file your FAFSA and add the new college’s school code. Financial aid does not automatically transfer between institutions, so contact the new school’s Financial Aid Office to confirm all required steps are complete. Finally, keep copies of the course descriptions for all classes completed at Washington State. These descriptions are available in the WSCO Course Catalog.
