Title IX Information

Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 is a federal law prohibiting discrimination on the basis of sex requiring schools to take immediate action to end all forms of sex-based discrimination, prevent its recurrence and remedy its effects. Discrimination includes harassment, gender-based violence, bullying, intimidation, retaliation On the basis of sex – sex, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation or perceived failure to conform to stereotypical notions of masculinity or femininity Sex-based discrimination is an umbrella term that includes, but is not limited to:

• Sexual harassment (quid pro quo and hostile environment)
• Sexual assault
• Domestic, intimate partner and dating violence
• Gender-based stalking
• Gender-based electronic bullying

Anyone wishing to make a report relating to sex-based discrimination may do so by contacting the Title IX Coordinator, Jean Worstell who is trained in Title IX and WSCO’s protocols for addressing and remedying acts of discrimination on the basis of sex.
