WSCO Shares the Gift of Education by Providing Over $20,000 in Free Tuition

MARIETTA, OHIO β€” Washington State College of Ohio (WSCO) is offering the gift of education this holiday season by providing more than $20,000 in free tuition to new students enrolling for the Spring 2026 semester. The tuition vouchers, each valued at $510 and redeemable for one free course, are currently displayed on the WSCO Giving Tree in East Muskingum Park. Community members may pick up a voucher now through January 4.

β€œThis opportunity is made possible through the generosity of donors who believe deeply in the power of education to transform lives,” said David Hermann, Vice President of Institutional Advancement at WSCO. β€œTheir commitment reflects a community that understands the impact of investing in students, families, and the future workforce of our region.”

To qualify, students must be new to Washington State for the Spring 2026 semester and enrolled in at least 12 credit hours. Upon meeting eligibility requirements, the tuition voucher may be redeemed toward one free course, a value of $510.

Kathy Temple-Miller, Dean of Students at WSCO, emphasized the college’s dedication to supporting
those in the community who are looking to go back to school but may be worried about the cost of
education. β€œWSCO is here to serve our community and ensure that education remains accessible to
everyone,” she said. β€œWe want students to know that they belong here and that cost should never be a barrier to taking that first step.”

In addition to the tuition vouchers, WSCO is also offering Spring Start Scholarships for the Spring 2026 semester. These scholarships are available to new students and to students returning after not
attending during Fall 2025. Awards are competitive and apply to tuition for one semester.

WSCO encourages anyone considering their next step, including adult learners, recent graduates, career changers, and community members hoping to begin again, to see this as an opportunity to receive the gift of education. Whether it is a single course or the start of a full degree, WSCO meets students where they are.
